Solving Problems

Screening troublesome materials is an everyday occurrence at ROTEX.

Here are five ways ROTEX helps solve these difficult applications.

Prevents Plugging & Blinding
Screening performance suffers when materials plug or coat the screen. Rotex solves this problem... A system of bouncing balls confined in pockets beneath each screen surface keeps the screen alive and clear of plugged particles. The long stroke of ROTEX Screeners produces ball action that cannot be matched by short stroke vibrating screeners. The ROTEX mesh cleaning system is effective because the long stroke energizes the material, while bouncing balls dislodge near-size material.

EXAMPLES fertilizers | detergents | sand

Screen Out "Longs"
Elongated oversize particles are often troublesome because they tend to upend and pass through the screen with on-size particles. Because the Rotex gyratory screening motion has no vertical vibration or hop, particles lie flat on the screening surface, greatly reducing the probability of upending. The ROTEX gyratory screening motion keeps longs flat to prevent upending.

EXAMPLES plastic pellets | extrudates | catalysts

NEAR-SIZE SEPARATIONS
Problems frequently occur when a high percentage of particles is very close to the size of the screen opening. ROTEX Screeners solve this problem, because their long screen decks give maximum opportunity for near-size to pass through the screen. This is in contrast to short deck or circular screening devices which sharply limit retention time of the material on the screen. The long deck of ROTEX Screeners, in conjunction with its unique gyratory motion, gives maximum opportunity for near-size particles to pass through the screen.

EXAMPLES abrasives | sugar | activated carbon

ELASTIC MATERIALS
Problem: how to prevent lightweight elastic materials from becoming airborne, a condition common with vibrating systems. The Rotex gyratory screening motion causes fines to sift down and through the screen, rather than becoming airborne and tailing over the screen. Material tends to become airborne on vibrating screening types because of the vigorous vertical motion.

EXAMPLES ground rubber | polystyrene beads | glue pellets

FRIABLE MATERIALS
The vigorous vibrating motion of some screening equipment can cause friable material to impact on itself and result in costly product degradation. Because Rotex uses a low-intensity screening action, fines are removed without violent agitation and product degradation is never an issue. Do you have a screening problem? Material stays in contact with the screen surface of ROTEX Screeners because of the horizontal gyratory motion.
